NAIDOC
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. Every year Nambour Community Centre partners with local community to host a local Nambour Family NAIDOC Event.
International Women's Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on the 8th of March. Every year Nambour Community Centre hosts an event for IWD; to raise awareness around the ongoing gender disparity; and to celebrate the everyday contribution of women everywhere.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Every year Nambour Community Centre participates in Harmony events across the Sunshine Coast.
DFVP Month
Each May, Queensland marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (DFVP Month) to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and to send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated. Every year Nambour Community Centre hosts a range of community actions to raise awareness around DFV in our local community.
